Here is my solution how I get network working when update to That make your PC’s visible in File Explorer network devices. Thanks for reply and information. I’ll stop searching for HomeGroup now that I know it would be a useless effort.
This update did not destroy my LAN -i. Local Area Network; so I’ll add a few more permissions and short cuts. I will miss the security HomeGroup provided. I will keep your information for future reference and check it out later to see how it fits in to what I have now.
Could the homegroup settings please just be reduced to an app status findable in the store? The ephemeral nature of it was much faster than my PC building a local cache from my media server. There are many ways to skin a cat, but unless there was a significant security flaw, I see no reason to completely remove the feature.
It worked very well with my Windows systems and my Linux ones didn’t need to interact that way and had more traditional networking setups. As well, it is for situations like this that normies dread updates. The Microsoft and Apple policies of forcing the involuntary selection of what is added to and removed from my computer as a paying customer makes me really want to switch back to GNU OSs for the majority of my systems. I’ve skipped on many builds of Windows before and I may very well do it again.
